Your role

As a trainee lawyer-linguist you will:

translate draft ECB legal acts and other legal documents from English into Slovak;

revise Slovak translations of ECB legal acts and other legal documents;

translate legal texts from Slovak into English for internal use and revise Slovak-to-English translations of national laws and other legal documents;

contribute to the drafting of ECB legal acts;

engage in the Division’s projects on, for example, the development of the ECB lawyer-linguist function, knowledge management and the use of technology;

contribute, as required, to the overall work of the Division.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential:

a bachelor’s degree or higher in Slovak law, awarded by a Slovak university;

a good knowledge of the MS Office package;

an excellent (C2) command of Slovak and an advanced (C1) command of English, according to the .

Desired: 

a good knowledge of EU law; 

a basic understanding of EU and Slovak banking and financial law;

a qualification in modern languages and/or translation;

experience translating legal texts, ideally using CAT tools;

an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official EU language, according to the .
